Unless otherwise instructed by your surgeon, on the evening prior to your surgery, eat your normal supper at normal supper time.
Take NOTHING BY MOUTH (do not eat or drink) after midnight – this means no food, no water, no coffee or juice, no carbonated beverages, no ice chips, no chewing gum, no candy, no sugar-free candy, no tobacco, no snuff, no smoking – NOTHING after midnight. Unfortunately, your surgery will be CANCELLED if you do not follow this rule.
STOP TAKING COUMADIN 5 days before your surgery unless otherwise directed by your physician.

Bring ALL your medications with you when you come for surgery.
Blood Pressure Medications – should be taken at your routine time with a SIP of water
Aspirin – may be taken with a SIP of water
Heart Medicines – may be taken at your routine time with a SIP of water
Diabetes – Unless otherwise instructed by your primary care physician, you should NOT
take Insulin or oral diabetic medications on the morning of surgery
Birth Control Pills – should be taken at your routine time with a SIP of water
Thyroid Replacement – not necessary for the day of surgery
Analgesics – not necessary for the day of surgery
Narcotics – not necessary for the day of surgery
Flomax – should be taken with a SIP of water
Anti-Psychotics – should be taken with a SIP of water
Anti-Depressants – should be taken with a SIP of water
Anti-Seizure – should be taken with a SIP of water
Asthmatic Medications – should be taken with a SIP of water
Parkinson’s Medications – may be taken with a SIP of water
